ABOUT THE AREA:
The Boys & Girls Club of the Bemidji Area (BGCBA) is a nonprofit 501C youth development organization headquartered in Bemidji, MN, and with a second location in Blackduck, MN.
Bemidji is a regional center for economic development, health services, shopping, arts, entertainment, outdoor activities and government services. Bemidji is the first city on the Mississippi River with over 400 crystal clear fishing and recreational lakes in a 25-mile radius. Known as the curling capital of the world and home to Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox statues, the historic downtown features shops, eateries, a brewery, a science center, live theatre and a new art center. Bemidji is a college city with strong art influences and buzzes year-round as the host for many festivals, competitions, tournaments, marathons, and more. With breathtaking natural beauty, Bemidji is a thriving regional center only 4 hours from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and is considered prime “up north” lake country.
Blackduck is a small town of just over 800 people located 25 miles north of Bemidji in Minnesota’s scenic north woods. Known for its recreational opportunities such as hunting, hiking, snowmobiling and fishing, Blackduck is a tight-knit and friendly community that’s a great place to raise a family. Alongside its own merits, its proximity to Bemidji brings a wealth of opportunities for the perfect mix of small town and rural living.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
